The welding robots is one of the latest investments in RK Machinery's plant. Its aim is to increase production efficiency – not only to improve the output capacity, but also to guarantee consistent welding quality and precision.
"We have really professional welders in our team, but no one can work 24/7 at the same quality level. A robot can, so we decided to integrate automation into our series production. For such parts, the time savings are significant, while the more complex welding tasks are still at the hands of our specialists," explains Ritvars Višs, Deputy Technical Director at RK Metāls.
The new robot is just part of a targeted investments into the production modernization. In the recent years, the Grobiņa-based machinery division has both expanded its production area to include new stainless steel assembly and processing workshops and invested in new, modern production equipment such as milling machines, saws, etc.
First decade of growth
May will mark 10 years since a separate machinery division was established at RK Metāls. In its first ten years of operation, RK Machinery has grown steadily, having just reached a turnover of EUR 10 million, and for the company's team this milestone is more like a first solid step towards even further development.
One of the main keys to growth has been the "appetite" for more and more challenges. Today, RK Machinery is able to handle such complex projects that they have customers from all over the world. The team's engineers and production specialists are entrusted with the full cycle of product development. In their portfolio you will find both serial parts and complex systems for a wide range of industries, from the food industry to the production of building materials.
Recent major projects include production equipment for thermal insulation materials and components for water treatment plants. Although the projects come from very different segments, they are similar by the clients' desire to offer their customers sustainable, energy-efficient solutions that are currently highly demanded in the market.
